Lazy Day
It was a cold day in Meridian, Idaho as Corey Sanders was enjoying some peace and quiet. His fiancé Izzy was in town shopping with his sisters which meant Corey had the entire house to himself. Now most men would play video games or tackle the honey do list. Not today, Corey was going to sit down on his leather couch and watch the every episode of the Power Ranger franchise. Despite the fact he has already seen them, he thoroughly enjoys watching this series as he uses it as a learning tool.
"Alright, time to watch some television," he says while clapping his hands together. Sitting in front of him are a bowl of popcorn, a bag of chips with a beer cheese dip and a nice tall glass of sweet tea. As he is preparing for the wonderous occasion, a breeze blows through the living room knocking over several stacks of paper.
"Mother Nature can just wait," he says.
"Corey," a voice rings out as Corey lifts his head up.
"Who said my name?" he asks while reaching for a chip.
"Corey," the voice rings out again as Corey dips the cheese into the dip.
"Whatever you want please know I am off today so if you are looking for a job then comeback tomorrow," he responds while taking a bite of the chip. The eerie voices continues to call out his name as the first episode of the power rangers is playing.
"This is getting ridiculous," says Corey as he pauses the TV show. He gets up from his couch and walks into the kitchen. Just like he suspected no one was in the house. Corey was beginning to get a little annoyed.
"Can't a guy have one lazy day without some voice calling his name out," says Corey as he walks back into the living room. Right as he turns the corner, Dr. Anubis is sitting on his couch. Corey stops dead in his tracks while looking around the room.
"How did you get in here?" asks Corey while scratching the side of his head.
"The door wa opened," answers Anubis as he helps himself to some chips. "These are some good chips," he admits while sticking a couple into his mouth.
"What are you doing here?" asks Corey as he watches with confusion on his face.
"What happened last week?" answers Anubis with a question of his own.
"What do you mean?" responds Corey as he takes a step closer.
"You had the match in hand until you let slip through your fingers. So I ask you what happened last week," replies Anubis as he continues to munch on the chips.
Corey didn't know how to respond as he plops down beside Anubis. "What are you watching?" asks Anubis.
"Power rangers," answers Corey as Anubis shakes his head.
"Why am I not suprised? You should watch a man's show," says Anubis as Corey looks at him.
"You mean like Code of Silence or Walker Texas Ranger," jokes Corey.
Anubis nods his head while patting Corey on the knee. "Have you thought about your upcoming match for the Alpha Cup?" Anubis asks while taking a handful of popcorn.
Silence filled the room as Corey sat there. He pondered on the question posed by his mentor.

Last week, I wrestle my first match for this company after a six month hiatus from the ring. A true man doesn't gI've excuses for why he doesn't get the job done. I can blame it on my ring rust but Stroker wrestled a better match. He followed his game plan down to the exact time and managed to move onto the next round in the Paramount Championship tournament. Now, I could sit and pout like a baby but that's not who I am. I will dust myself off and look to improve on my performance from last week.
This week my challenge will be even greater than a triple threat match. My challenge would be to keep my personal feelings for fighting women to the side. My fiancé will tell you that I dont like men attacking women but since we are scheduled opponents then I just adhere to the contract set before us. With that piece of information, I will try my hardest to view you as a competitor and not just a woman. I'm sure in your mind this sounds like a sexist remark but I assure you it's not. I was raised to never strike a woman and I uphold myself to those high standards. Now I won't go into this match cocky and arrogant like some in this company. I will head into this match with a goal. That goal is to provide the hardworking people quality entertainment while they get their money's worth.
I dont fight for money. So I am comfortable with my five hundred dollar paycheck I get for competing. I fight for honor. I fight for integrity. I fight to give the people someone they can look up to. I fight for those who can't defend themselves. Now Jessie, we come from similar backgrounds with our martial arts training but your actions are wild. You fight unbalanced and that is why you lost last week. It has nothing to do with skill. You are talented. If you weren't then I am sure our bosses here at A.W.E would have given up on you. However, just because I'm praising you doesn't mean you have an easy ticket to the next round.
I ,myself, have lots to prove to the people who sign my paycheck. I still need to prove that I can still go at full speed given that I'm not a spring chicken anymore. I am here to fight like a hero. I will bring the good fight and prove that I do belong. So Jessie, bring everything you got because I'm bringing everything I got. This Sunday on Massacre we will see who wants this more. I guess the only thing left that I have to say is OVERDRIVE ACCELERATE.
