it's obvious.
"Isn't it almost fitting that we're going to meet yet again in this kind of a match, Anastasia?"
"There's a lot at stake here. The chance to go on to the finals and become, essentially, the top competitor in Alpha Wrestling Empire is something that we're both looking to accomplish. After all, for someone who refers to themselves proudly as the MVP of this place, it would only be silly if you didn't win this tournament. You're the top female wrestler in the Paramount division right now, and you want to maintain that spot. You've held championship gold before, and now, you're looking to make sure that the name Anastasia Hayden is something that people will talk about for years to come. Of course, it's going to be rather difficult to accomplish any of that when I'm the one you have to beat."
"I mean, I have to wonder what it felt like for you when I pinned you all the way back at Addiction #1 when we were both working for Pure Amusement Wrestling. The realization of me coming out on top must have etched this deep sense of insecurity into you. After all, ever since I beat you, you just kept on losing and losing at the time, and the will to fight was slowly dissipating as you became more jaded. It's amazing to think that I, Caroline O'Hara Burchill, could have set of those chains of events that would've led up to a grandiose deterioration of a single career. It warms my heart, honestly. Having the ability to ruin someone like that is something that I take pride in. It's one of my remarkable specialties."
"Still, despite those mishaps, the management gave you title shot after title shot, clinging on to this idea that for whatever reason, you were going to be their rising star. You were presented as this woman with all the potential in the world to become a champion one day. In fact, you remember that cute little moniker that you had going on with you about being the 'Future Champion'? Yeah, that's what you hyped yourself up to be. Admittedly, I never saw anything special in you. You were getting your ass kicked at the time and then all of a sudden, right before PAW closed its doors, you became the Titans of the Midway champion by beating Nova Wonder - a woman who never even had any passion or a single fuck to give heading into the match to begin with. Still, good job on that one! Give yourself a nice pat on the back for that one."
"See, it always bothered me seeing you get all those opportunities when you were at the lowest point of your career whereas I was flourishing. I was proving myself to be dominate, but little Miss Hayden still got handed things instead of earning them. It was just by some sheer bit of luck that you were finally able to win a title in the end, and now here you are with this surge of confidence rushing through your veins! Hell fucking yeah, the MVP is here to win everything!"
"Honestly though? I beg to differ."
"Sure, you won at the inaugural Massacre event, and you'll probably feel like you have this whole match in the bag for you, but let's not gloss over the obvious facts here. The reality is that I was close to demolishing you inside that ring. I said that I was going to tear you from limb to limb, and I was going to punish you. All it took was for that one suplex onto the steel steeps, and you managed to get away from the doom that awaited you. You were lucky in that situation."
"You escaped from my grasp then, but now? Heh... there's no escaping from your execution at the hands of the Killer Queen."
"The Finals in the Alpha Cup tournament is right around the corner. The finish line is right there, but of course, you're the one who is blocking me from crossing it. You might have been successful before, Hayden, but I want you to know that when it comes to this match? I'm going to continue where I left off and finish you off completely like I should have when we met the last time."
"You won't be getting up once I'm through with you. You'll be in the ring, laying helplessly as you watch me get my crown. I'll take the title of being the winner of the Alpha Cup tournament. Hell, while I'm at it, I might as well take the title of being the true MVP of AWE also."
"It would suit me better, don't you think?"
January 17th, 2017.
New York City, NY.
Disappointment was something that Caroline O'Hara Burchill tried to avoid at all costs. She was a desperate mess of a woman who would often stop at nothing to get whatever it is that was in her main line of sight, and whenever she was unable to obtain what it was that she desired, it was truly a heart-crushing event for her. She might have gone on to the quarterfinals of the Alpha Cup tournament, but the vision of having a clean sweep in two tournaments faded away; becoming a distant image that will always be stuck in the hypothetical realm of her thoughts. In a way, Caroline thought that karma was truly a bitch as she was knocked out of the Global Cup tournament courtesy of three people who interfered in the match. Not long before that, Caroline used underhanded tactics in order to take out Aaron Pace to get far in the Alpha Cup. As much as she would have loved to have all the gold and glory rain down on her, the possibility of having that happen to her seemed slim now. She had nothing else to fall back on. She either had to win the Alpha Cup tournament, or she would be back at square one again.
God knows she's frequented that place far too often now. She needed to move on to a new place, and that new place was winning the entire tournament.
Truly, the Killer Queen felt a bit insecure about her own ascension to the throne. As she was sprawled out in the ring with her little strategic notebook right in front of her, Caroline couldn't help but to think about having to come face to face with failure yet again. It made her anxious, and a pit feeling inside her stomach grew as she couldn't shake those thoughts from her mind. What if she didn't win? What if she was pushed back all the way to the bottom again? She was so close to reaching the top of the mountain, but one little slip and Caroline would be sent tumbling down into the pit of her own despair.
With a sigh as she laid there, brows furrowed and everything. The tip of her nail tapped against the page in her book as her eyes bore deeply into the picture of a woman that she had in it. A huge red circle surrounded it followed by various arrows with words scribbled on in cursive. To Caroline, she was looking at the one woman would very well could be the one little slip that would ruin the entire thing for her.
Anastasia Hayden.
She never expected someone like her to be a persistent throne in her side. Ever since she came back to the world of professional wrestling, Burchill and Hayden were at each other's throats. It all started in a match where those signed to the now-defunct PAW fought to show who would be the likely new star out of the pack. Hayden emerged victorious in that bout. Then, the two paired up, and although they were able to secure a win together, they also lost one of their matches. Dissension was evident, and so, on the September 1st edition of Addiction, the two women squared off in a contest where The Immaculate One was able to beat the previously unpinned Hayden.
Caroline thought that after the match, she would be done with her. She wanted to move on with her career and not have to worry about Hayden anymore, but of course, Burchill wasn't going to be let off the hook that easily. The next encounter they had was at the first Massacre event and, well... things got insane real fast. Even if the fight wasn't considered to be a legitimate 'match', Ana still pinned Caroline in the end. Just the memory of the whole situation made Caroline shudder in disgust.
"God, I can't stand that bitch," Burchill muttered out from underneath her breath as she shook her head. It was clear that Burchill considered Hayden to be a nuisance. It seemed like the two women were always going to cross paths; sharing an inseparable bond of sorts, even if they never wanted it to be. However, Caroline's eyes would shoot up from the page to the door that just slammed, indicating that someone arrived. Of course, Amy Scottsfiern would be the one to pop up as she shook off the rain from her umbrella, sporting a scowl on her face.
"God, I can't stand this weather," the annoyed blonde said, and Caroline let out a soft chuckle as she saw the frustration that was present on her usually-calm agent.
"You and me both, but that's to be expected when it comes to living in New York. Still, I wouldn't trade this place for anything else."
"Really? Well, I'd take the nice, sandy shores and palm trees over this messy, backwards weather any day of the week..."
After placing the umbrella to the side, Scottsfiern would walk up to the ring and placed her arms on the bottom rope. She let out a small sigh of her own as she recalled the times when she herself used to step inside the ring. Caroline knew about this and with a smile, she said, "You know, it wouldn't kill you to just get inside here and train with me every once in a while. It would be cool."
"Cool? Oh yeah, facing the possibility of breaking my neck yet again is really cool, Caroline," Amy remarked jokingly with an eye roll. "Speaking of which though, how's yours?"
The match with Aaron Pace had been a grueling one. He proved to be a challenge; he brought the fight to her and nearly took her out completely with such a devastating move when he hit the German Suplex onto the concrete floor. Caroline was able to subdue the Alpha Male and win the match, but for a while, she experienced some pain in the neck region. Although she was able to continue on with her training, she was advised to take it easy and not strain herself. Since then, the threat of the injury was relieved, and Caroline was back to feeling one-hundred percent.
"It's alright. I'm all better now, so nothing to worry about injury-wise."
"Good, good... The last thing we need is something unexpected to come up and ruin this tournament for you."
"Yeah, I know. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I couldn't go on."
Amy smiled. "Well, you're almost there. Just one more match, and then it's all yours. Just gotta push through to the end."
"Yeah, but I just find it funny how Hayden and I are going at it yet again in the quarterfinals for this thing. I swear, she's like my own little shadow stalking me. It seems like I can never get rid of her."
"Oh, definitely, this whole thing is a bit tiresome," Amy admitted. "However, don't let that get to you. All you have to do is beat her again and prove to everyone who the better woman truly is."
That comment from Amy made Caroline smirk. "I think it should be obvious who that woman is by now. After all, I'm --"
"Let me guess? The Killer Queen?"
"You're damn right," Caroline said, grinning as she closed the book and stood up. "I'm glad I have someone as smart as you by my side."
"Hey, just like you said," Amy said, smirking. "It's obvious."
