Early Thursday morning.
Two days before Christmas Eve.
The beaches of the small island of Cozumel, Mexico are mostly empty today. Not many people out today except for a few locals. Most of the tourist have left the island the previous day after the cruise ships made a stop at the ports. But on one of the beaches is a small house with a small dock and decent size boat docked. There is a Jeep parked near the house and beach chairs all pointing towards the sea. About 50 feet away from the house in between two palm trees there is a hammock with a small table next to it. On top is a bucket filled with bottles of spring water on top of ice a hand reaches out from the hammock to grab one of the bottles of water. Inside that hammock Brandon Collins lies, slowly swing back and forth gazing out towards the sea. He shakes the droplets of water off the bottle before opening it, taking a sip, and screwing the top back on. He stares out at the sea, all the waves forming then splashing on the beach, the occasional seagull flying over the sea. and very rarely a fish would jump out of the water for some reason.
Truly Relaxing.
As Brandon enjoys the gorgeous view and sound of nature his Samsung Galaxy s6 on the table begins to vibrate. He reaches over grabbing his phone before looking at the screen to see who is interrupting his relaxation before sliding his finger left to answer the call. He then presses the speaker button then lays the phone on his chest.
"Hello."
A woman's voice an answers
"HI! Little Brother."
"Shaunie it's good to hear from you."
"Brandon. Mom is worried about you she hasn't heard from you in days and neither have I. Is something wrong?"
"Nothing is wrong at all. Decided to spend a couple of days in Cozumel. Need some R&R for some time to think. Hard to get this kind of peace and quiet in the cities and impossible to get back at home."
"Well are you coming home today or tomorrow? You have to spend Christmas with the family."
"Don't feel like it. Probably going won't be back in the states until the day after Christmas when one of the ships come to port."
"So you're going to be alone for Christmas in Mexico? Why the hell would you do that?"
"Probably for the best. Need time to think plus Christmas at home is probably going to be a disaster. Our little cousins are going to be annoying as all hell. Aunt Lizzie and Uncle Paul will start arguing again about something stupid and she'll threaten to divorce him, Nate will probably disappear with Anne leading to the annual Nate, Rachel, and Anne love triangle, then Grandma will eventually break down into tears about how her family is in shambles. No Thank you. Going one year without that will be the best thing ever."
"Wow you're probably right about most of that. How about spending it with dad and Celiá?"
"Pass. Don't feel like going to a bar and watch father get piss drunk making a fool out of himself. Then fight a guy hitting on Celiá cause you know she's going to sit back and flirt with other men."
"True. So so true. You know mom is going to be disappointed you are choosing not to spend Christmas with family."
"Spending some time alone isolated from the rest of the world is great. Nice and relaxing plus plenty of time to think about things. Got a huge return in the future against some really good people. This Bindy woman is just a woman who loves to fight the other is just a girl who is supposedly always happy all the damn time. While researching them both it's been very difficult to get back into The Expert state of mind. So time out here has help."
Brandon stops and takes a sip of his water before continuing.
"This transition back into wrestling. It's hard."
"Are you nervous? Scared? Unsure if you can hang?"
"It's like a combination of the three. Weird these feelings. They're new. Nothing like ever before."
"Brandy you need to have some confidence in yourself. You've wrestled hundreds of times before and will wrestle hundreds more. You're forgetting you're the son of Marcus Collins. A legend. He and all of his buddies taught you well and you've proven you are one of the best. All you gotta do is go out and prove it."
Brandon starts to chuckle
"You make it sound so simple. These guys are leagues above the people from before. It's not going to be like before. Plus more than a year out of the ring tends to complicate returns to it."
"It's probably not going to be easy. But I know you can do it. You are one of the best I've ever seen. You may not be in The Expert state iof mind now but I've got a feeling soon as you step in a ring surrounded by a bunch of fans and that bell rings you'll snap into it like *snaps fingers* that."
Suddenly Brandon starts hearing a baby crying from Shaunie's end and she lets out a sigh.
"Well Suzy is up. Good bye lovely minutes of peace and quiet. I got to go."
Brandon chuckles again and he can hear Shanie start to move about.
"It's fine sis. Give Suzy a kiss for her uncle."
Ok I'll call you tomorrow. Bye."
A double beep then comes from the phone signalling that Shanie has hung up. Brandon then takes his phone and places it back on the table. He then takes another sip from his water and gazes back at the beautiful sea as few seagulls and pigeons soar through the air and waves crash along the shore.
"Maybe you're right. The Expert will be back soon will be back like...
*slowly snaps fingers*
..that"
He takes another sip before getting a smile on his face.
"Hopefully"
