Manhattan, New York – an athlete signed to Alpha Wrestling Empire was arrested earlier today for assaulting a small group of fans outside a hotel. Benjamin Stevens, more known as Benny Stevens, is 25 years old and had been arrested for DUI and drug possession in the past.
According to the victims, they approached the wrestler in an attempt to get his autograph and take a couple of pictures. At first, Benny appeared to be unusually aggressive and reclusive; however, they insisted on the interaction with him. After harmless jokes were told, the man instantly shoved them and started to shout an outburst of profanities – the situation got out of hand when one of the fans replied to those words and engaged in a physical altercation.
Witnesses; however, claim another side of the story. Apparently, the fans were making fun of Benny and the man simply requested them to leave him be – “I heard him say something like he wasn’t in the mood for BS that day” said Mike Hunt. And he concluded “He’s a human being so it’s acceptable, man. So he asks them to come see him on the next day and he’d sign whatever they wanted. But the fans kept provoking the guy for no apparent reason. Stevens got angry and (censored) went south real quick. Looks like the dude knows Karate moves so I stayed the [hell] away from that mess and called the police.”
The fan who engaged in a physical altercation with the wrestler was taken to the hospital. There is no information on his physical state yet.
One of the police officers reported that Benjamin was overly aggressive and needed to be contained by force as soon as they arrived. According to the NYPD, the athlete will await trial if the victim decides to press charge on him. Mr. Stevens is expected to be released on bail.
