In the middle of a darkened room a single light shone down onto a man, who is kneeling, head dropped.
“Well then. It's been a quick minute since I did one of these, hasn't it?”
He stood up, his face shrouded by the shadow but the mask in his hand a clear indication that this is Akragth.
“Two weeks ago I made my arrival here known. I ended the speculation, I peeled back the veil of mystery. The facts were made clear: I have returned to the wrestling world and the Alpha Wrestling Empire is my chosen battleground. Why here? Isn't it obvious? Because there is a high level of competition here and I want to show the whole world I can topple them all.”
He moved the mask, holding it in both hands, presumably looking down at it.
“My first match back? A triple threat, Akragth vs Zack Fantana vs Tommy Stone. Hell of a way to kick things off, no? I suppose people will expect, given my history with Zack and Tommy, that I will come out here and talk about BFW, that I will talk about GEW, two places where I was part of the same roster as them. There’s a lot of history there, matches between us. I could bring such things up, use them against my opponents. But I won’t. Because, unlike so many I've seen here, I don’t live in the past. No, I would far rather look toward the future. And what a future it is. Trust me, my attacks over the last three shows are but a mere taster of what is to come.
“I have been asked, in the time since the last show, why? Why then? Why them? The answer is simple: I did what I did, to the two men I did, because I could. Think about it for a moment. I chose a time that suited me. I used deception and misdirection to confuse and manipulate my victims because it suited me. I took down two of my oldest foes, two men with whom I am very familiar, because it suited me. And with it I made a statement. I proved a point. I showed that nobody is safe from my wrath. I showed, just as I did at Executive Action, that I can strike anywhere, at anyone.
“If even your leadership, your shareholders are not safe from my reach then who is? The answer is obvious, whether you accept it or no.”
He chuckled.
“And the saddest part of all this is that T.S. actually thought I had eliminated the shareholders for his sake. Stupid man. Understand this, my condition for working on his behalf was that he signed me here. A binding contract, unbreakable, set in stone. And, just as planned, he did so. He assumed I would do as told indefinitely, that I was new his lapdog. He thought he had tamed me, but in truth he achieved nothing.
“He assumed too much. It truly amazes me the lengths some will go to when you dangle a carrot. The man is a fool, and it has cost him dearly. The company will go on without him. I will go on without him.”
After a brief pause, he took in a sharp breath.
“Better yet, without the aid that T.S. thought I would bring to the ladder match, Zack lost that night. With that failure his title reign ended and T.S.’ hopes of holding power here were gone with it. The fact of that matter is that I neither care who controls the company nor who holds the championship titles. Kassandrah, Thirteen, the old guy, T.S., it doesn’t matter. All four of them were taken down thanks to me at Executive Action, three directly and one indirectly. They are weak, one and all.
“And that suits me just fine. Chaos thrives in such circumstance.”
Akragth stroked down the face of his mask.
“When all said and done, we are remembered by our legacies. My legacy will be that I arrived here in AWE and defeated every single member of the resilience division, starting on my debut show with Zack Fantana and Tommy Stone. History will remember that I carved a bloody path through the roster, that I cast bodies asunder and brought ruin to careers.
“Now sure, I could go on to detail how I intend to do that, but why should I? What sort of foolish warrior would reveal their plan before the battle? No, only an imbecile would tell their foes their methodology, would allow them to plan for it. My intentions will be - as with so many things - shrouded, kept in the darkness. People fear the unknown and I am the unknown”
He flipped the mask over, turning it face down.
“What I can tell you, though, is that this match won’t be a battle. Not really. This match will be a lesson, a reminder to some, a demonstration to all. Those who have forgotten will remember. Those who are ignorant will be educated.
“So sit down and shut up, class is about to be in session. Grab a pen and paper and start taking notes. And when the match is over, when Tommy and Zack are staring up at the lights, at me as I raise my hands victorious, you will - all of you - know why I am the most dangerous man in this company. You will remember exactly who in the hell I am!”
Slowly, Akragth raised the mask up, slipping it on.
“I am The Destroyer.”
He stepped into the light fully, mask visible to the camera.
“I am Akragth”
Reaching out to the camera and chuckling again, Akragth ended the feed.
