The camera was already set up next to Austin’s king sized bed. The plan had been to record a promo last night. Twenty drinks later and Austin was out cold. Finally stirring from his drink induced slumber, Austin was in no shape to record anything. But sadly, it had to be done. Rolling over, Austin hits the record button on the camera’s remote. He pulls himself into the seated position and rubs his head.
Austin: “In case you can’t tell, I’m feeling a little bit rough today. But you guys have asked for more Austin so I try to keep these little videos up. So a brief update on my life. I still have no cameraman. I beat that delusional guy last show. And now I’m going to be in another title match. Maybe I should touch on that one first.”
Climbing to his feet, Austin starts to stumble. He takes a moment to steady himself before grabbing the Advil off his nightstand. Chasing the pills with the rest of his drink from the night before, Austin raises his glass to the camera.
Austin: “Hair of the dog. It works.”
Making his way to the closet, Austin finally sees his reflection. His messed up hair and bags under his eyes show exactly how he is feeling. He tries to adjust his hair before reaching into the closet and pulling out the first shirt he touches.
Austin: “So I have another chance at the Resilience Championship. This time it will be myself, Dare and Bindy. Now, I’ll be the first to admit that I haven’t exactly earned this shot. But ask yourselves this; why do I, a glorified rookie, keep getting shots but the former champion doesn’t? It’s because Austin Gale is money. I may be more suited for a boardroom than a wrestling ring. I look better in a suit than in tights. But even the powers that be in AWE know that simply having Austin Gale on the card attracts more viewers. And when you put him in a title match, fans throw their wallets at the ticket booths.”
His shirt now buttoned, Austin grabs a tie from the closet. Draping the tie over his shoulder, Austin walks back to his nightstand. Another drink. There was a time when one drink was all it took to clear a hangover. There was also a time that he could demand his cameraman to pour him another drink.
Austin: “Can the same be said about Bindy or Dare? Have either of them taken over a billion dollar company and tripled it’s net worth in under three years? I have. I’m a money magnet, plain and simple. Now I could lose this match on Sunday. Afterall, I’m competing against two people with much more experience than I. But no matter who walks out with the belt, you can guarantee that I will still be in the title picture. Bindy could walk out with the title, throw on her flower headband and skip through a valley, but Austin Gale would still get another title shot. Dare could retain his belt, jump out of a plane and act like this is all one giant dick waving contest, but Austin Gale would still get another title shot.”
Finally pulling on a pair of pants, Austin begins to button up his sleeves. He takes another moment to adjust his hair before turning back to the camera.
Austin: “Investments lead to profits. Bindy has invested her time into peace and relaxation. That has carried her to be universally loved and even won her a title match. But even with the time, peace and relaxation, there’s something missing. Dare has invested his time into, well, dares. This has earned him a multitude of fans as well as the Resilience title. But yet, there is something missing there as well. Personally, I live by the motto that time is money. And if I’m going to invest my money, I want it to be a sure thing. That’s what Dare and Bindy are lacking. They lack a guarantee. A guarantee that their investments will mature into something profitable. I’ve found my guarantee. My sure thing. I threw my money into the mix and have been guaranteed an AWE title. This raises questions. What did I invest in? What title will be mine? Only time will tell. So whether the winner of the match is the flower child, crowd pleaser or billionaire does not matter. Austin Gale will be a champion in AWE. And my investment will mature Sunday. Mark my words.”
Snatching the remote, Austin stops the recording. Fade to black.
