The back of the limo was dimly lit. Even through the blacked out windows it was obvious that it was night. Yet, Austin still had his sunglasses on. Maybe it was just the style. Maybe it was to give off the douchebag vibe vibe. The briefcase holding the Alpha Cup contract sitting wide open already did that. The sunglasses were just the icing on the cake.
Austin: “Compensating. Why is it that when people see someone with something they can’t afford they automatically assume it’s to compensate for something. I don’t buy nice things because I had a poor childhood. I don’t buy them to make up for a bruised ego, emotional damage or a little dick. I buy them because I can. Do you understand that feeling, Ben? To buy things just because you want to? Of course not. You’ve mentioned on numerous occasions that you’re broke. Well this is what rich people do, Ben. They buy cars, yachts and fancy clothes. Hell, they even buy title opportunities."
Austin removes his sunglasses and hangs them from his lapel. Leaning forward in the seat, he stares directly at the camera.
Austin: “You’re very observant, Ben. My change in demeanour. The purchasing of the Alpha Cup contract. Even my change of opinion about people on this roster. You notice all these things and yet you still make the assumption that I don’t trust my abilities to succeed. What you fail to realize is, I’ve already succeeded. That shouldn’t come as a shock after you incorrectly stated that Bindy beat me. You can try to cover that mistake all you want, Ben. You can claim she ‘destroyed my mindset’. Claim she ‘saw through my shell’. You can state the same nonsense that you always do but that doesn’t change the facts. Let me lay something out for you. Not only do I have the contract but I also have Radford to go along with it. Have you been observing him as well, Ben? Watching as ‘Country Fine’ James Radford ran through the entire Paramount Division? I know I was. Unlike most, I wasn’t waiting for the day the Unstoppable Force met the Immovable Object. I was waiting for the Unstoppable Force to meet the Bottomless Pocket. And now he has, Ben. I’ve invested in the one person that can handle those thorns that are in my side. Driver, left up ahead."
The driver nods as Austin continues to stare at the camera.
Austin: “You can call it all flip flopping but I remember a time where you would do anything for a laugh. You wanted the fans to love you and in the process, you got your ass kicked each and every week. You realized it wasn’t working so you changed. You started mouthing off to everyone. Your whole persona changed. And now, you get your ass kicked on a bi-weekly basis instead. That’s not a testament to your skill. That just because you stopped whoring yourself off to any company that needed a punching bag. Did that not fit my new schtick? Let me try this instead."
The car turns left as Austin sits back in his seat. Resting one arm along the back of the seat, Austin looks much more relaxed.
Austin: “You’re right, I have been ‘talking less shit’. I could run my mouth all I wanted but I was struggling to find those wins. Maybe I decided to believe that actions truly do speak louder than words. Maybe I decided to put my money where my mouth is. I can toss cliché after cliché out there describing my change in attitude. I decided, why do the dirty work when someone else could do it for me. So I threw some money at the situation. Now Mama Radford gets to go home to her family. The tears of joy will flow, the people will cheer and come Thanksgiving the Radford household will be giving thanks for Austin Gale. In the process, I get a wrecking ball that I can direct at whomever I like. Maybe you get jumped before our match tonight. Maybe Dare has to claw his way to the ring if I cash in on him. Maybe Dom DiBona gets dropped at my feet and I take his title. The possibilities are endless, Ben."
Closing the briefcase, Austin sets it down on the ground. Pulling the sunglasses back off his lapel, Austin opens them and places them back on his face.
Austin: “Maybe that is cowardly. The fans will probably boo that decision. You will shake your finger at me just breaking my poor little heart. But when you’re on your back and my place my foot on your chest for the three count, what will it matter? Our records are very similar, Ben. But what have you done to change your situation? I’ve changed mine, Ben. I’m taking the path of least resistance straight to the mountain top. Some people choose to work hard. They want to claim that they’ve earned everything they have. I’ve chosen to work smart. And now I’m taking whatever gold I please. I’m doing that while you remain just another loser.”[/font
Fade to black.
