A lone television sat in the middle of a room. Its screen show images of Dom Lawson talking. As the camera panned out, it revealed Akragth sat, feet up, popcorn in a bowl across his lap. He turned, as if suddenly aware of the camera.
“Glad you could join me. As you can see, I am enjoying inferior Dom’s newest promo. I was ready for this days ago. That is an extra few days that he took to craft...well, this.”
He was, of course, taking a stab at Dom’s sluggishness to talk.
“And wow, what can I say? How about ‘is that it?’ See, much like any woman that inferior Dom has ever slept with, I very quickly came to realise what a huge disappointment he is, how badly he lacks in performance. That promo, and trust me I use that term very loosely, was such a pathetic waste of time that I am tempted to sue him for not warning me about it beforehand. If this is a ‘classic’ promo of his then I sure hope he can fight better than he can talk, or this will be over quickly. Still, I suppose this is what happens when you get booked against a fucking amateur, is it not?”
Akragth chuckled, setting the popcorn bowl aside. How he had eaten any with the mask on would have to remain a mystery.
“Still, at least you showed up, Dom. I was starting to think maybe you had smartened up and decided not to bother, to tuck tail and run as all good Irishmen do. But no, there you were, standing in a bar like the walking cliche you are, that stupid as fuck look on your face as you tried to make threats and sound in any way intimidating with that audible catastrophe that you call an accent. And what am I supposed to do with this, if not split my sides laughing? Was this meant to intimidate? Or make me respect you? What was the point, exactly?
“I mean, for one, you recorded it in a bar. A bar! Who the hell takes a camera to the bar to even begin with? Are you so desperate to try and appear young and relevant again that this is what you pull? Or is it that you are just trying to prove stereotypes about the Irish? Or is it maybe that you actually really do live there, you poor bastard?
“And, you know...maybe I am missing something, but how has anyone ever taken you seriously? You are what, thirty four? Thirty Four and you have achieved NOTHING in all of those years. Thirty Four and less accomplished than the eighteen, nineteen year old rookies out there? And better yet, despite that, you think you have a prayer against me?”
He shook his head, laughing at the thought.
“How pathetic. But on the plus side, it was nice of you to list the things you almost won. Make no mistake, ‘nearly achieved’ is not the same as actually achieved, and it is irrelevant how close you think you were. You lost, inferior Dom, and history does not remember the nearly guys. Those who do not achieve are soon forgotten, trampled beneath the boots of those who achieve. And you, Lawson, you did not achieve. You lost your title match, you lost the battle royale and you will lose against me, just like how you lost your home and your dignity.
“The fact of the matter is that for all of your bluster, for all of your words, you managed to say nothing. Just like for all of your years you have managed to accomplish nothing. You whined, you cried, I laughed, but nothing changed despite it. No matter what you say, all your promo did was prove, beyond any doubt, that you, inferior Dom, do not belong here. You are not worthy of being my opponent and you will not emerge the from our encounter the same man you entered it as.
“Truthfully all your promo did was demonstrate that this match is a waste of my time, but it will nevertheless serve as a fun couple of minutes, as I dismantle and then destroy you. This won’t be a match, it will be a dissection, a deconstruction, a decimation. Take notes, you amateur piece of crap, because I am about to school you on how this is really done.”
He closed in on the camera, eyes fixed dead center.
“Just like any other law, you were made to be broken.”
As Akragth chuckled, the scene ended.
